Off White Wednesday: Pointing
Once upon a time I was young, and wild and I hated white walls.
I painted my first apartment a rainbow of greens, purples and teals. I faced every white wall I was forced to live in head on with my paintbrush held high.
Now that I’m older and wiser, I’ve learned to embrace white walls. White interiors are classic, white will highlight architectural details and show off your home’s “great bones”. White walls are the perfect backdrop for your artwork and your furniture. Not to mention, if you rent, painting your walls a shade of white will save you a lot of time and trouble when you’re looking to move out somewhere down the line.
That being said, not all whites were created equal. Some off whites will make a room warm and cozy, while others come off icy, cold and sterile. Some whites don’t look white at all once you’ve got them on your walls, instead they take on a pale yellow, pink or blue-ish tone. I’ve decided to dedicate wednesdays to the color white, and all my favorite “off whites” out there.
Let’s start things off with my favorite white of all time, “Pointing” by Farrow and ball. This white has a creamy, buttery yellow undertone to it that really warms up a room. I think it’s a great alternative to traditional stark white trim and moldings. Pair it with a cool color like Farrow And Ball’s Lamp Room Grey, Borrowed Light or Pale Powder. Or try it with another white like Shaded White, or Lime White.
